The Hydroelectric Complex
A learning experience !
Producing hydroelectricity is the same whether it is at a giant hydroelectric generating station like Robert-Bourassa (Baie-James) or at a small power station like Les Sept-Chutes. However, to obtain the equivalent of the 7722 megawatt electricity production, would be needed 371 small power plants as that of Sept-Chutes!
A guided visit of the plant reveals the secrets of hydroelectricity. Visitors learn how water flows ont the site and get detailed account of how elctricity is produced. Don't forget to visit the antique forge dating from 1926 with all the original tools. Click here for the guided visit's schedule*.
Built over a four-year period by several hundred men, the dam is a masterpiece of human genius. One of the site's key attractions, the dam offers visitors and exceptionnal panoramic view !
* Visitors aged 18 years and over must present an official photo ID, driver's licence, Health insurance card or passport, before they can tour the powerplant.
